TYT Politics reporter Eric Byler ( http://www.Twitter.com/EricByler ) spent a day on the campaign trail with Donald Trump speaking to supporters in High Point and Kenansville, North Carolina. This report captures the awkwardness of Trump making his now-customary appeal for African American votes in a venue where 99.9% of the attendees are white, and, it documents a master politician exploiting infamous acts of terror to argue that Americans need to vote for him to preserve their safety. Trump supporters had various reactions to their leader's decision to at last admit that President Obama is a real American. Some said that Trump's admission was just playing politics to help him win the election, and, that they still believe that President Obama was born in Kenya. Others said it doesn...

After a full week of news anchors and reporters treating Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump‘s “black outreach” as the genuine article, CNN contributor and New York Times columnist Charles Blow got a little bit fed up Wednesday morning. In a New Day panel hit devoted to Trump’s latest remarks about earning black votes by keeping them from getting shot, Blow reacted testily to Alysin Camerota for even asking him to assess Trump’s outreach, as if there were any question as to its authenticity: It’s the kind of bigotry that says, “I will knock you down while I pretend to pick you up,” it’s the kind of bigotry that says, “I am urinating on you and telling you to dance in the rain.” This is the most horrible kind of bigotry. The fact that people keep asking the same question, particula...

CNN’s Van Jones thinks that Donald Trump‘s black outreach has been pretty amazingly horrible. Jake Tapper brought up how unrest in Charlotte and other cities could potentially help Trump. Jones said that “Donald Trump has botched an incredible opportunity to reach out to African-Americans.” He called it “unnatural” for African-Americans to be over 90 percent supportive of Democrats, admitting there’s great opportunity for Republicans to reach out. But as far as Jones is concerned, Trump has been running the “most inpet, botched, failed zig-zaggy outreach to African-Americans.”
Reverend Wendell Anthony, the head of the Detroit branch of the NAACP, tore into Donald Trump for his “scam” outreach to black voters at a church in Detroit today. He told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield that it will take a hell of a lot to undo what Trump has done over the years to alienate minority voters, from birtherism to accusations of housing discrimination. Anthony said Trump has been engaged in more “civil wrongs” than civil rights and said Trump and the GOP’s strategy is “the old Southern strategy wrapped up in a new suit in 2016.” “If we don’t know him by now,” he said, “we will never ever ever know him.” Anthony also highlighted how Steve Bannon, Trump’s campaign CEO, oversaw Breitbart when they ran a defense of the Confederate flag.
